Did you know...? The new St Paul's Community Sports Academy in St Paul's, Bristol, was the first sports centre to be assessed by the Building Research Establishment's (BRE) Enviromental Assessment Method (BREEAM). The Academy has been awarded the BREEAM environmental rating of ‘excellent’. gcp Chartered Architects worked closely with Bristol City Council, Bristol Community Sport, Sport England, and the local community to design this exciting, high profile, environmentally sensitive sports centre that puts “sustainability” at the centre of the project.

Sport, leisure & hospitality projects have always formed a major part of our work. Initially this was focussed around work for the commercial leisure sector working for clients such as David Lloyd Leisure and Whitbread Restaurants & Leisure, for whom we have completed leisure clubs and hotel projects around the country.

Since the launch of the Lottery Sports Fund we have developed a detailed knowledge of the requirements of Sport England and other sports funding bodies, understanding that delivering funding is key to the viability of projects. Our understanding and experience of this essential area has led to an increasing workload of publicly funded sports developments for local authorities, schools and sports clubs, encompassing dual use facilities, and those for community use.

The range of services we can provide includes consultancy services, operational appraisals, and the masterplanning of school sites.
