Did you know...? that gcp delivered the Hengrove Regional Play Park at Hengrove on the outskirts of Bristol. A 'Jungle Play Dome' - which was the first in the country - forms part of the playpark, one of the recent phases in the regeneration of Hengrove Park.

The dome is the centrepiece of the regional playpark which forms part of the wider ongoing revitalisation of this part of South Bristol.

Based on this expertise gcp have since advised Hartcliffe Community Campus on the development of a small playpark that forms part of a Millenium Green project; as well as subsequent similar projects.

gcp became involved in regeneration and urban design projects through our work for local authorities and community groups bidding for lottery funding. Through these projects we developed a practical understanding of the issues involved with sustaining regeneration projects.

We quickly learnt about: market research / consultation; understanding agencies' desires for facts, figures and statistics to justify applications; plus business planning, cashflow forecasting and participation of local people. We developed an empathy for many of the organisations faced with the task of negotiating this difficult range of requirements.

Currently we are working in both SRB and Neighbourhood Renewal areas on sports projects, town centre redevelopment schemes and masterplanning exercises.

We are conversant with the government's initiatives designed to encourage regeneration and are familiar with the mechanisms they have put in place for delivery. We have a good understanding of the structure of local government and are able to work effectively within that environment.

Lastly we have a good understanding of reform in many government departments. This allows us to make effective links between departments to strengthen particular aspects of a project.
