background
Jonathan has extensive experience in the architectural industry, working for over 40 years and accumulating a wealth of knowledge as an Architectural Technologist, Associate, and Technical Manager. During this time he has acted as Project Lead across a wide breadth of sectors, from RIBA Stages 1 to 7, whilst managing a portfolio of Clients.
Jonathan joined gcp in 2024 and has brought with him his expertise, and desire to contribute to well designed buildings that fulfil the client and end user’s needs. He achieves this through a deep appreciation and understanding of the client’s brief, project funding and programme constraints, and how the building is to be procured, constructed, used and managed. He believes understanding the needs and objectives of a project enables the correct skill sets and resources to be applied, promoting good design from concept to occupation.
experience
Jonathan has successfully led projects in a plethora of sectors. He has worked on residential projects ranging from individual dwellings through small infill sites to large mixed-use developments. He has also executed projects for car franchises delivering Rolls-Royce, Bentley, JLR dealerships, and more. Other notable projects include mixed use retail master planning on a greenfield site, dementia care homes, 5G telecommunication works, cricket pavilion and golf club facilities and industrial units.
Throughout these sectors, he is skilled in decarbonisation on existing buildings and has become well versed in residential PAS 2035 measures, including EWI systems, on low rise properties through to High Risk Buildings. Notably, he has also worked on decarbonisation within the industrial sector, including Crematoria.
Jonathan also has a profound comprehension of High Risk Buildings, having worked on student accommodation and distressed residential flats, which fall into this category. In particular he has carried out fire remediation works, forensic defect inspections and remediation planning.
Jonathan is adept in numerous skills required from RIBA Stages 1-7. He is competent at producing feasibility studies, engaging with consultations, preparing planning and building control applications, and tender and construction information. Throughout the stages he is an excellent communicator, able to host public consultations, speak at planning committee meetings, and chair Design Team and Client Meetings, all whilst managing an architectural design team and liaising and coordinating with other consultants and contractors. He is able to prepare CDM PCI & H&S files, review CPPs, undertake contract administration, site inspections and engage with procurement frameworks and in-use reviews.
