background

Rose is a Project Architect at gcp who cares about architecture that is environmentally and socially conscious.

She undertook her Part 1 and 2 qualifications at the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff before starting her career at a small practice in Cheddar. Here, she worked primarily on domestic heritage projects, from RIBA Stages 0-3. Following from this she commenced her role at gcp working at a larger scale, with projects including new build housing, community building refurbishment and improvement of sport facilities. These have encompassed more RIBA Stages, with a greater prevalence of Stage 4-5.

With support from gcp, Rose completed her training to become a registered architect.

Rose’s rigorous study earned her a Society of Construction Law award for her understanding and application of contract law. This featured an essay on sustainability clauses in construction contracts.

experience

A variety of skills have therefore been attained during her educational and practical experience, spanning all stages of architectural design. This includes production of survey, concept, planning, tender, and construction drawings across various sectors. In her previous practice, Rose focused on guiding clients from initial surveys and understanding existing buildings through to concept design and planning approvals. At gcp, Rose has primarily been responsible for reviewing approved planning drawings, reviewing Building Regulation compliance and preparing construction packages, developing strong technical drawing skills. She has also provided advice to community organisations to future-proof their facilities.

Rose also undertakes Whole Life Carbon calculations, contributing to gcp’s focus on sustainable design and construction. Similarly she is also part of the team that pursues gcp’s becoming carbon neutral, by meticulously tracking the company’s carbon output and intake.
