Masterplan and new clubhouse for community sports club.
The 2023 BBC Sports Personality Awards propelled Sheffield Caribbean Sports Club (SCSC) into the limelight when its chairman won the Unsung Hero Award. With a national audience all ears, Des Smith noted in his acceptance speech that the club desperately needed a new clubhouse to better serve the community.
gcp was promptly approached by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to review the club’s facilities and wider site. Responding to a fast programme set by the ECB to build on the award momentum, gcp engaged in wide ranging stakeholder consultation. then produced a masterplan and proposals for a new clubhouse to optimise the greenbelt site.

gcp was further appointed by SCSC to take the design up to planning. The proposals for the clubhouse include a clubroom and kitchen to serve both sporting and social events, changing rooms, offices and ancillary accommodation - all compliant with Sport England and ECB guidance.
The wider site is set to see new all-weather football pitches and hockey training areas, basketball, tennis and netball courts, spectator seating and satellite changing facilities, alongside much improved parking.
Following planning approval in 2025, gcp was appointed to take the project to a detailed design.
