Refurbishment of a school sports hall to create the Wilf Slack Cricket Centre in association with Middlesex Cricket

Working with Middlesex Cricket, gcp transformed an existing multi-use sports hall at William Perkin CoE High School into a cricket-focused facility which can also be used for badminton and basketball. The project, which complements Lord's Indoor Cricket Centre, will promote participation in cricket from an early age and offer clear routes for progression in both the men’s and women's game.

The works included overlaying an existing hybrid floor structure to create an ECB-compliant surface. The unusual floor build-up required early-stage planning and testing to ensure the final installation would comply with the ECB performance requirements.

Close collaboration, with RAW Brothers as branding consultants, afforded the creation of an exciting brand environment which improved access legibility whilst telling the story of Wilf Slack.

“As a facility, the Wilf Slack Cricket Centre, stands head and shoulders above anything else in the county. The term state of the art was made for this facility and with the shared vision we have with the team at Twyford CofE Academies Trust, we know that this centre will become a vital hub for the local community.”
