Jonathan has been living and working as a Chartered Architect in Bristol and the South West for 30 years. He started his career at Bristol's JT Design Build Group before gaining experience at other commercial practices, while also completing an MSc in Construction Management at the University of the West of England. He joined Jeremy and Colin as a director of gcp Chartered Architects in 1998.
Jonathan has strong and acknowledged skill for creating strategic and important building projects, especially in complicated areas. He has been fundamental in facilitating and bringing together several schemes that have had a transformative effect for clients, while revitalising areas of Bristol. Examples include the award-winning Junction 3, Trinity Community Arts and Bedminster Parade.
Jonathan sits on the West of England LEP Low Carbon Industries Sub Group and the RIBA South West CPD group, defining the study course for developing architects.
He was a member of the original steering group for Bristol 2015@ European Green Capital and has been an assessor for Innovate UK (Technology Strategy Board) and for 21st Century Halls (Lottery grants).
Jonathan is a keep collaborator with other construction professionals. As a keen sportsman he was delighted to be appointed by The England & Wales Cricket Board to produce its Indoor Cricket Technical Design Guideline (TS7), leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver this nationally-adopted design guide.
